Fed up with the incessant bad weather and risking a case of cabin fever, I turned to my cure-all: wine tasting! Hopped in the car, headed north to check out Matanzas Creek and, as luck would have it, the rain stopped, the clouds parted, and a rainbow shot across the valley just as we pulled up. Their Sauv Blanc has long been one of my favorite California whites, but they’ve got a stacked portfolio and I tasted a slew of worthy wines while there. The sip of sips goes to their 2008 Helena Bench Sauvignon Blanc and I’d rec you add it to your must-drink list. All in all a great day in wine country and just what the doctor ordered — what’s your cure for the mid-winter blues?
