Playing DJ for the Day

Getting a gander at the KCRW music library

There’s only one thing that gets me as jazzed up as food and that’s music. To me, the two go hand-in-hand and I wouldn’t even think about lighting up the stove without first piping in some tunes.

Over the years my musical taste has evolved as much as my cooking, yet I have always adored the eclectic music on public radio station, KCRW. Along with the Lakers, KCRW is one of the things that makes me proud to be a native Angeleno, and I’ve done my part to support them through thick and thin financial times.

So when they invited me to do a spot on their Guest DJ Project, I was ecstatic. Not only did I get to talk about the top 5 songs that represent me and my career in food, but also I got to go behind the scenes and spend some time soaking in the 30-years-in-the-making gem of a music library. My interview will air sometime in the next few months and I’ll keep you posted once I know specifics. In the meantime, you can just start calling me DJ Chef Pants — though Aida still works fine too.
