Happy Hour: Toasting the Times, with Two Fruit Cocktails

It’s time to celebrate! As if the holiday weren’t enough of an excuse, today is also the the unofficial start of summer and, as I’ve made you well aware, the launch of the new Cooking Channel. That’s reason enough for me to concoct not one but two seasonal cocktails. So, whether your bbq-ing with your buds, partying poolside, or chilaxing indoors, toast the good times with these fruit cocktails.

Two fruit cocktails for when you feel like celebrating:

Cherry Sour
Add to a cocktail shaker and muddle: 2 orange slices, 6 pitted cherries, 4 brandied cherries, and 1/2 ounce agave nectar or simple syrup

Add: 1 1/2 ounces bourbon, 1 ounce Campari, and 1/4 ounce lemon juice then fill halfway with ice

Shake well then strain into a chilled cocktail glass

Garnish with a few cherries and an orange slice

Joan Collins
Squeeze: 1/4 lemon into a cocktail shaker and drop it in

Add to shaker and Muddle: 10 pitted cherries, 1 ounce orange-flavored liqueur (like Citronage)

Add: 2 1/2 ounces bourbon and fill halfway with ice

Shake and strain into an ice-filled Collins glass, Top with ginger beer, and Garnish with a cherry
