Left to Write

My book-writing ground zero

It’s officially official — I’m starting work on my first cookbook! Woohoo! Truth be told, I entered the food media world with the ultimate goal of becoming a cookbook author, so, to say the least, this is a big deal for me. It’s a bit daunting knowing that I have nothing short of a whole book to write, but I just keep reminding myself it’s about taking the little itty bitty baby steps that’ll eventually add up to a manuscript.

There’s a lot to do, like coming up with my mood board, developing recipes, writing the manuscript — and that’s all just before the end of the year. But luckily I’m working with the creative crew over at Bay Area-based Chronicle Books and they’re nothing short of inspiring. We’ve only just begun and yet I couldn’t be more psyched about the project. It’ll be a modern-day manual to the kitchen and I’ll do my best to answer the questions that come into Ask Aida while sharing some of my food philosophy with you.

Of course, for a girl who’s used to the instant gratification of web publishing, it’ll be an exercise in meditative-like patience to wait for it to publish as the cookbook isn’t due out until Fall 2012. For now, I’ve just adopted the classic ketchup mantra that the best things come to those who wait. I promise I won’t keep you waiting though and I’ll update you with details as the book becomes fully baked.
