Strawberry Rhubarb Compote

We’re in full swing season: that few weeks when the flavors of both this and last season overlap at the farmer’s market.

Being that it’s March, that means the last of the citrus is holding on while the first of Spring produce is popping up. I celebrate this teensy window of time with recipes that use produce from both sides of the seasonality fence, such as Meyer lemon and rhubarb in this punch or citrus juice and strawberries in this strawberry rhubarb compote. Then I attempt restraint in treasuring my creations because I’ve got a whole year to wait until swing season swings back around.
