Unofficially, the unofficial holiday party (and last book tour event) for the Keys To The Kitchen launch was this underground 5-course dinner that I hosted in San Francisco last weekend along with friends at The Bold Italic and Stag Dining Group. It was a stellar pairing with Stag adding their special twists to my recipe and The Bold Italic folks helping to spread the word about Keys.
Here are a few photos of the festivities along with a look into, dare I say, my favorite goodie bag of all the Keys To The Kitchen events to date!
We set up the dinner at a quirky, underground spot deep in San Francisco’s Mission district and decked the room out with holiday decor.
To kick off the night, we popped some bubbly provided by friends over at Moet et Chandon.
And then had the adorable Limor Allen from Green Barrel Wines pouring some local wines from these impressive (also sustainable) barrels.
The boys behind Stag Dining Group took recipes from Keys To The Kitchen and then riffed on them for a gorgeous 5-course meal.
Speaking of the meal, let me break it down a bit — the first course was this Roasted Beet Salad with Endive, Fennel, and Caraway Dressing.
The next course was the Caramelized Fennel Tarte Tatin topped with hot-smoked salmon and creme fraiche.
We then moved to the Faux Pho that had the addition of beef meatballs and brisket.
The last savory course was the Stag Group’s version of the Balsamic-Glazed Chicken with smoky eggplant.
To finish things off, we served the Shortcakes with Citrus Compote and Orange Flower Whipped Cream, which is one of my very favorite desserts from Keys To The Kitchen.
In between courses, I filled everyone in on the book, the book tour, and how honored I was to have so many people helping me celebrate the book’s release.
And during the meal, I got to actually dine and meet some of the awesome people who attended.
Speaking of awesome, the guests took home a pretty amazing gift tote filled with treats from local businesses, including Chronicle Books.
And a few delicious treats from some amazing Bay Area-based artisans including the stellar jams from Inna Jam, the addictive flatbread crackers from Rustic Bakery, and the spiced almond popcorn from CC Made.
All in all, the evening was a success and I had a great time toasting the end of the book tour with all my new friends, including this little guy!
