What’s your trick-or-treating game plan?
We’re taking my niece and three nephews trick-or-treating in this cutest, coziest corner of the Hollywood Hills where each house is decorated up to Martha Stewart standards and everyone gives out candy (and I mean the good stuff). Yes, Los Angeles is a sprawling city and Hollywood is better known for clubs and premieres than block parties for the K-6 crowd, but this one little corner is like a slice of Main Street USA.
Taking a page from our mother’s playbook, my sisters and I will unceremoniously stuff the little ones as much real food as possible in (likely vain) attempts to keep them from slipping into sugar comas later on. Experience tells us that comfort food standbys are always the winners so nothing can get too crazy or they’ll just skip the meal in hopes that means more M&Ms later on. Here’s a list of some recipes that pass muster — though, truth be told, I’d be inclined to eat these anytime of year.
