Everyone should have at least one partner-in-crime. A friend you can call at any hour, any day of the week, and convince them to join in on an adventure. Someone who, if you decide tomorrow to drop it all and buy a last-minute ticket to Timbuktu, they don’t ask “why” but “how soon?”
I’m fortunate to have a handful of such friends and one here in L.A. is Gaby. In the few years we’ve known each other, Gaby and I have taken planes, trains and automobiles everywhere from California to Texas.
We’re going to share our local adventures and explorations with you in this new series we’re calling Chic At. For this first go, Gaby and I headed to Venice Beach for some coffee and breakfast at Deus Ex Machina.
To say Deus Ex Machina is a coffee shop doesn’t really do it justice — it’s more like a coffee shop dating a bike shop with a dash of surf culture. I know, it sound like a lot to throw together but it works — as for the food, they serve LA-based Handsome Roasters coffee, some legit baked goods, and a selection of juices if you’re being good (or just want to balance things out after you O.D. on the danish).
Here are a few of my photos from our visit, but, for another peep, be sure to head over to Gaby’s site to check out more!
