It’s raining here in California and, from the way we react around here, you’d think we’ve got our own breed of polar vortex. But Lillian and me? We’ll take it as an excuse to light a fire, pull out the blankets, and finally get a chance to call it winter. Of course, a good cozy drink is in order to so this month’s Last Fridays is a Cinnamon and Tequila Hot Chocolate that pairs perfectly perfect with Lillian’s Cinnamon Chipotle Spice Popcorn.
But, before you make this recipe, I’ve got a big ol’ caveat to throw out there. You all know how much we love chocolate right (I mean I’ve got a Pinterest board dedicated to it)? Well, then you’ll understand why this is not hot cocoa but hot chocolate. We’re talking real deal, Euro-style hot chocolate which is basically drinkable ganache and a dessert unto itself. So, we used really good dark chocolate, some milk, and spiced it so it’s got a flavor reminiscent of Mexican chocolate but then took it there by spiking it with top-shelf aged tequila. No, we’re not kidding around this month and, yes, about two sips in, you’ll be feeling really comfy and cozy.
