Inspiration: Palm Springs
by Aida Mollenkamp — Share
Palm Springs. Just saying it brings forth images of old-school Hollywood, modern architecture, and relaxed vacation style. Well, I’m heading that way this weekend to celebrate my birthday with friends and family, so it seemed a fitting theme for the latest Inspiration board. In the spirit of classic Palm Springs, I’m doing a little design daydreaming — here a few things I’d have in my dream desert house as well as a few items I’d don while relaxing poolside.

Inspiration: Clover Green
by Aida Mollenkamp — Share
Doesn’t the color green just scream Spring?
I don’t mean just any old green because, let’s be honest, forest green belongs squarely in fall and olive would be out of place durant le printemps. No, I mean those bright greens that first buds paint everywhere with all their cheery glory. Of all the early Spring shades, my favorite is clover green, especially when a clover-filled holiday like St. Patrick’s is just days away.
In honor of the most Irish of holidays and the quickly approaching spring (or it may already be around depending on where you call home), here is a selection of clover green items I’m currently coveting. (Spoiler Alert: There is NO green beer to speak of!)

Local Adventure: Rose Bowl Flea Market
by Aida Mollenkamp — Share
I’m the first to admit that I’m prejudice: the minute I hear “flea market,” I can’t help but think chintzy, cheesy, and dirty. I mean, the word “flea” really doesn’t help things out when it comes to appealing descriptions.
Maybe that’s why I’ve been meaning to go the Rose Bowl Flea Market but, despite my best efforts, never seem to get around to it. That is until a few weeks ago. I convinced my sister, aka my local adventure partner-in-crime, to make an early day of flea market hunting. I’d like to say I have tons of experience at this kind of stuff, that I know my top-notch from my not-so-top-notch, and that I bargin with the best of them. But, the truth is, I’m still getting a handle on all that.
Which is ironic because, when I lived abroad, I would bargin for every item at the farmer’s market from an extra slice of prosciutto to a better deal on the loaf of bread. What can I say? Maybe it just seems easier to do in a language that isn’t mine — to be brash that is. No matter the reason, the reality is that I went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market I was more of an observer than a buyer. Even so, I scoped some items that I’m hoping to snag at the next market, which is this coming Sunday, March 11th for those who live in the area.

Inspiration: Romance
by Aida Mollenkamp — Share
Whether you love it or despise it, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. While I’m not one for sappiness, it’s a perfect time to celebrate those you cherish, whether you’re cooking for them or buying something sweet.
These are a few items that say “Valentine’s” to me be it in the vintage design, the indulgent factor, or just as a celebration of the romantic.
Inspiration: Hawaii
by Aida Mollenkamp — Share
I’m back on mainland and, just as quickly as my tan lines are fading, so are my memories of my recent trip to Hawaii. My experience house sitting an exquisitely eclectic house has me lusting after any and every design and decor items remotely Hawaiian in look and feel. So, in an attempt to bring home a slice of the laid back, breezy style of Hawaii, I’ve pulled together this collection of tropically spirited kitchen and tabletop items.
