Favorite Pins – Southern Gothic – Live Oak Trees // aidamollenkamp.com

Isn’t it funny where wanderlust comes from sometimes? You wouldn’t think that a holiday revolving around pumpkins, candy and filling in the “sexy _____” would inspire us to imagine a road trip through the American South; but that’s precisely what happened. Cities like Charleston, SC, Savannah and New Orleans have a haunting beauty all their own—Southern Gothic, if you will. From the slightly worn, classic architecture to the dramatic cascade of live oak tree branches, it’s hard not to be drawn in to the moody romance of it all, some of which is very dramatic, indeed. “Sexy Blanks” have nothing on this week’s Five Favorite Pins.

Favorite Pins – Pumpkin Spice – pumpkins // aidamollenkamp.com

Let’s continue the conversation we started last week, shall we? Yep: we’re gonna have to talk about pumpkin spice for a minute. It’s time to push the reset button on this relationship.

Pumpkin Spice, it wasn’t you! You did absolutely nothing wrong. You went on being delicious as you always are, but—maybe it was jealousy from all the other flavors, who knows—for some reason everyone turned on you. It’s not right, and on behalf of civilized society, we’d like to make amends. Get ready for a whole lot of love.

To start off, we made something special just for you—Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Bars. They’re delicious, decadent perfection, because when we say we’re sorry, we really mean it. And to top it all off, this week’s Five Favorite Pins is dedicated to you. Since when did it fall become an arbiter of cliches? Seriously—”sweater season,” changing leaves, pumpkin everything—all these things rock, so what’s with the aggressive eye-rolling? Why are we accepting the rejection of all the tasty, pretty, awesomeness of autumn?

Well, we say don’t accept it! Take back the cliches, starting with one “trend” that’s particularly delicious in every way: this is your official invite to come apple picking with us—come on, you know you want to!

Our Five Favorite Pins of the Week // Island in the Sun

Pineapple in the Beach | aidamollenkamp.com

Right now, life’s a beach.

Last week? Oh, last week seemed to be filled with sniffles and chills and more boxes of tissues than we’d like to count. That “thing going around” got to us, and while some good R&R never hurts, if we don’t see that little red Netflix logo for a long while, it would still be too soon.

The remedy is that we’ve shipped off to paradise this week. Aida’s saying “aloha” to Hawaii, which means we’re saying “well hello there” to some vicarious vacation time on Pinterest. Imagine the salt in the air, sand in your hair, coconut in hand, and the clearest blue water ever seen. Imagine tropical iced tea with a garnish of pineapple picked up 5 minutes from where it was picked itself.

Get your own island fever with our five favorite pins this week.
